Western Aqueduct Phase 2 – Wyebank Break Pressure Tank

Reservoirs, Treatment Works & Pump Stations

The Western Aqueduct Phase 2 Wyebank Break Pressure Tank project was delivered for eThekwini Municipality as part of a major bulk water supply system serving the Durban region. The project involved the construction of a new reinforced concrete break pressure tank and associated infrastructure.

The works included water-retaining concrete structures, inlet and outlet chambers, large-diameter pipework, controls, telemetry, access roads, retaining walls, and environmental reinstatement. Construction took place on a constrained site with deep excavations and complex pipework interfaces, requiring careful sequencing and strong technical coordination.

The completed facility forms an important part of the Western Aqueduct system, supporting reliable bulk water distribution while showcasing Icon Construction’s ability to deliver high-quality water infrastructure in challenging site conditions.
