The uMshwathi Water Supply Scheme Phase 4, also known as the Greater Efaye Reticulation Scheme, was delivered for uMgungundlovu District Municipality in KwaZulu-Natal. The project expanded water supply infrastructure across several rural communities in the uMshwathi area.
The works included extensive bulk and reticulation pipelines, reinforced concrete chambers, valve and meter installations, elevated and ground-level storage tanks, reservoirs, and thousands of yard tap assemblies. Delivery required careful coordination across a wide geographic area, with local SMMEs appointed, mentored, and supervised as part of the works.
The completed scheme improved access to reliable water infrastructure for the surrounding communities and demonstrates Icon Construction’s ability to deliver large-scale rural reticulation projects with strong local participation.
