The Wartburg Reservoir project formed part of the uMshwathi Regional Bulk Water Supply Scheme and was delivered for uMngeni uThukela Water in KwaZulu-Natal. The project involved the construction of a reinforced concrete water storage reservoir with associated chambers, pipework, and site civil works.
The works included reservoir construction, inlet and outlet infrastructure, scour and overflow chambers, pipework connections, road repairs, testing, and commissioning. The project required careful attention to founding conditions, water-retaining concrete construction, and future operational requirements within the wider regional supply system.
The completed reservoir strengthened local water storage and transfer capacity, supporting the broader bulk water scheme while demonstrating Icon Construction’s experience in durable reservoir construction and coordinated water infrastructure delivery.
