The uMshwathi Regional Bulk Water Supply Scheme Phase 2 was delivered for uMngeni uThukela Water as part of a major regional bulk water supply programme in KwaZulu-Natal. The project included the construction and commissioning of two bulk water booster pump stations, reinforced concrete reservoir infrastructure and a steel rising main between Wartburg and Dalton.
The mechanical, electrical and instrumentation scope included pump station fit-out, mechanical fabrication, pump installations, electrical systems, MCC starter cubicles, VSDs, PLCs, SCADA, telemetry and associated controls. The completed works strengthened regional bulk water transfer capacity and demonstrate Icon Construction’s ability to coordinate high-capacity pumping infrastructure with civil, pipeline and reservoir works.
