The Ukhalo A Water Supply Scheme was delivered for uMgungundlovu District Municipality in KwaZulu-Natal. The project involved the construction of a new rural water supply scheme to extend reticulation and improve access to potable water for surrounding communities.
The works included extensive water reticulation pipelines, bulk meter and pressure reducing valve chambers, air and scour valve chambers, metered standpipes, break pressure tanks, reservoir works, testing, and associated environmental controls. Delivery required careful coordination across a wide rural footprint, including labour-intensive construction methods and specialist support where required.
The completed scheme strengthened local water access and reflects Icon Construction’s experience in delivering rural water reticulation projects that support long-term community service delivery.
