Nsezi Water Treatment Works Augmentation

Mechanical & Electrical

The Nsezi Water Treatment Works Augmentation project was delivered for uMngeni uThukela Water, formerly Mhlathuze Water, near Richards Bay. The upgrade expanded the treatment works from 205 ML/day to 260 ML/day and included major new process structures such as clarifiers, filters, dissolved air flotation units, a chlorine contact tank, a backwash recovery reservoir and inlet tower works.

The mechanical, electrical and instrumentation scope included rotating bridges, flocculation mixers, filter floors and nozzles, pipework, valves, chemical dosing points, flow metering, pneumatically actuated equipment, upgraded electrical supply and SCADA integration for monitoring and limited process control. Delivered in a live treatment works, the project highlights Icon Construction’s capability in complex process-driven water infrastructure.
