The Msunduze River Bridge project was delivered for the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Transport near Mandeni on the KwaZulu-Natal North Coast. The project involved the construction of a new four-span cast in-situ reinforced concrete river bridge, together with associated roadworks on both sides of the crossing.
The works required careful execution in a river environment, including bridge foundations, concrete structures, approach roads, and coordination of specialist activities. The project was recognised as the winner of the 2022 SAICE National Award for Most Outstanding Civil Engineering Project in the Community-Based category.
The completed bridge improved local access and road safety, while demonstrating Icon Construction’s capability in delivering high-quality bridge infrastructure with lasting community value.
