The Merrivale and Merrivale Heights Water Reticulation Replacement project was delivered for uMgungundlovu District Municipality in KwaZulu-Natal. The project replaced ageing water reticulation infrastructure and improved the reliability of supply to the Merrivale and Merrivale Heights communities.
The works included new water pipelines, water meters, hydrants, pressure reducing valve chambers, directional drilling, service proving, testing, and reinstatement of roads, concrete, and grassed areas. A key feature was the use of directional drilling beneath major transport infrastructure, requiring careful planning and specialist coordination.
The completed upgrade strengthened the local reticulation network and demonstrates Icon Construction’s ability to deliver water infrastructure replacement works in active residential and transport corridors.
