The Kokstad Development Project Phase 1 Civil Works was delivered for Swanvest 347 (Pty) Ltd as part of the development of a plywood factory facility in KwaZulu-Natal. The project included substantial industrial building and civil works, with structural steel mill structures, machine bases, roof and wall cladding, structural concrete, surface beds, roads, block paving and building works for offices, stores, ablutions, workshops and electrical substations.
The project was delivered on a greenfield site under demanding coordination conditions, with delays to bulk earthworks, overseas machinery shipments and specialist mechanical contractors requiring careful planning across overlapping work fronts. Icon Construction coordinated multiple specialist subcontractors and accelerated critical machine bases, pits and supporting structures so that the facility could receive and integrate imported plant and equipment.
