The George New Water Treatment Works Civil Extension was delivered for George Municipality in the Western Cape. The project involved the construction of a 20 ML/day extension to the existing treatment works, supporting increased water treatment capacity for the growing George area.
The works included two new reinforced concrete treatment modules, flocculation channels, sedimentation tanks, rapid gravity filters, filtered water storage, sludge handling infrastructure, a chemical storage building, and associated pipework. Delivery required careful planning, quality control, and integration with existing infrastructure within an operational treatment environment.
The completed extension strengthened the municipality’s water treatment infrastructure and demonstrates Icon Construction’s ability to deliver important public infrastructure projects with the discipline and coordination required in live service environments.
