The Darvill Waste Water Treatment Works Upgrade piping subcontract was delivered for uMngeni uThukela Water, formerly uMngeni Water, as part of an upgrade to the Darvill wastewater treatment facility. The project supported the transfer of raw sewage through new and upgraded pipework systems within the works.
The scope included the bedding and laying of steel and uPVC pipework, fabrication and installation of steel pipe fittings, and installation of valves and flow meters for the interconnecting pipework within the treatment plant. Construction required close coordination within an operational wastewater environment, with design changes and additional works managed as the project progressed.
The completed works supported the upgraded treatment facility and demonstrates Icon Construction’s capability in specialist pipework installation within complex, live wastewater infrastructure environments.
