The Craigieburn Dam to Gaywood raw water pipeline project was delivered for Umzinyathi District Municipality as part of the Greytown Bulk Water Supply Scheme. The project provided a new bulk conveyance route from the Craigieburn Dam area towards the Greytown water supply system.
The works included the construction of a continuously welded steel pipeline, tie-ins, valve chambers, pipe jacking, cathodic protection, river and wetland crossings, erosion protection, and rehabilitation works. Construction involved challenging terrain, river work, blasting, wetland reinstatement, and careful environmental management along the route.
The completed pipeline strengthened raw water transfer capacity for the region and demonstrates Icon Construction’s experience in delivering bulk pipeline infrastructure through sensitive and technically demanding conditions.
