The Burbreeze Reservoir Project was delivered for eThekwini Municipality north of Durban. The project included reinforced concrete reservoir infrastructure, upgrades to the existing pump station, steel pipelines, inlet and outlet pipework, reinforced concrete valve chambers, air valve chambers, pipe jacking sleeves and associated infrastructure serving the Burbreeze and Jan Roz reservoir system.
The mechanical, electrical and instrumentation scope included interconnecting steel pipework, valves, pump station works, testing and commissioning of pumps and accessories, lightning protection, MCC starter cubicles, pumps, VSDs, PLC programming, SCADA, telemetry and cathodic protection. The completed works demonstrate Icon Construction’s ability to integrate reservoir, pipeline, pump station and controls infrastructure into a reliable municipal water supply system.
