The Bergville Water Treatment Works upgrade was delivered for uThukela District Municipality to increase the plant from 2 ML/day to 9 ML/day. The project included a new sedimentation tank, filter base and filters, raw water and clearwater rising mains, pump station works, workshop, chlorine building, guardhouse and alterations to existing operational buildings.
The mechanical, electrical and instrumentation works included installation and commissioning of raw water and clearwater pumps, automated pump control, switchboards, MCCs, transformers, VSDs, motors and cabling. The process scope also included chlorine dosing, flocculant dosing, polymer transfer pumps, load cells, leak detection and flow-proportional dosing controls, promoting Icon Construction’s multi-disciplinary treatment works capability.
