The AC Watermain Replacement project was delivered for eThekwini Water and Sanitation as part of a major programme to replace ageing secondary water mains across the municipality. The North Section formed part of a wider upgrade to improve the reliability of urban water reticulation infrastructure.
The works included the replacement of existing pipelines, pressure reducing valve chambers, metered house connections, new tie-ins, decommissioning of old infrastructure, and ongoing operations and maintenance during the contract period. Construction took place in active residential and road environments, requiring careful communication with residents, service protection, traffic accommodation, and staged reinstatement.
The completed works strengthened eThekwini’s water distribution network and reflect Icon Construction’s experience in delivering complex, community-facing reticulation upgrades at scale.
